A LITTLE DISPUTE: SHORT STORY WRITTEN BY EKTA SINHA
The boy peeped through the thin gap in the door to find his grandmother sitting in the courtyard. He wants to meet her but his parents had warned him not to step in that house. He has returned to the village for his summer vacation. A lot had happened in the family behind him. He can feel the tension!
But his urge to see his grandmother and to eat his favourite laddoos made by her can’t stop him. She is sitting on a cot wearing a thick spectacle, her eyes are weak and she can’t see properly.
He was thinking about the way to meet her when suddenly the door is opened by his 20years old cousin . He stares at him. Their parents had a vigorous brawl few days ago and this little guy is standing at their door? The cousin gives a faint smile and ask him to enter the house.
Late at evening…
The parents of the young boy are searching for their son everywhere in the village . The boy is missing !
“Look at the pond. People are gathered there. Something had happened.” A villager told them.
They rushed to the pond with some fear in their mind.
The boy’s body was fished out of the water.
A life wire was touched .
The night was fateful but the morning is unusually calm and moron.
A stray dog is happily wandering in the fields and then it suddenly stops at a fearful sight. The dog came to eat freshly cooked roti that he gets there everyday by the young man (The elder cousin) .He is lying lifeless in the field.
An eagle is hovering over in the sky and it is screaming to call more. Five dead bodies are lying below wrapped in blood – stained sheets.
The dog gives a pity look and then it ran away wondering what went wrong !
Earlier-
The two cousins were playing near the pond . The elder one left for his home but the boy was still playing there. He slipped into the pond and was drowned to death.
The dispute between the family caught fire and more were killed due to a deadly clash.
